ABERSOCH 10K & 3K SUCCESS
The very first Abersoch 10K sponsored y Reebok, Powerade & Wombat
Clothing took place in Abersoch on Saturday and was a huge success with nearly
300 runners entering.
The race saw the start & finish positioned on Abersoch's stunning
beach below the yacht club & the first & last mile stretched the full
length of the beach, with the rest of the course over a mixture of tracks and
roads around Abersoch
Race winner was Nick Swinburn of Morpeth Harriers who finished the race
in an incredible time of 32 minutes 8 seconds, with Rob Samuel (Eryri Harriers)
& B Rothery in 2nd & 3rd. Women's winner was Liz Liver finishing the course in 43 minutes 10 seconds, with
Sharon Johnstone (Wilmslow RC) & Tammy Lewis-Jones (North Wales RR) in 2nd
& 3rd.
In addition to this there was the Wombat 3K Beach race for runners of
all ages and abilities which saw over 70 entries and the youngest completing
the course aged 6. This was won by James Thie who finished in 13:48 with 15
year old Luke Johnstone close behind in second. Third was Oliver Perez. In the
girls, A Oliver took first place with a time of 16:17. Olivia Perez was second
with Sandy Kearns taking 3rd.
Well over £1,000 has been raised for The Together Trust which is
fantastic and the feedback has been hugely positive and fully supports the
announcement of next years event that will take place on Saturday 5th June
2010. Keep checking the website www.abersoch10k.com for details but it looks
like entries will be opened on Monday. So be the first to sign up and enter
online.
