West
Coast Surf Competition- 10th / 11th October
Who
could believe it is almost that time of year again, the annual West Coast Surf
Competition. It is the pinnacle event of the Llyn Surf calendar and produces some
serious talent in the breakers year after year.
This
year’s competition will be slightly different to previous events. There will be
three divisions consisting of:
-
Open Event, which is open to everyone and limited to 32 entries
-Women’s
Division for women over the age of 16, which is limited to 16 entries
-
Junior Division for girls and boys under the age of 16, which is limited to 16
entries
The
competition will be organised into heats with will take place on Saturday 10th October, the finals will then be held on Sunday 11th October. Weather permitting the competition will take
place in Porth Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth). The prizes are truly exceptional this
year with a brand new surfboard on offer donated by O’Shea, a limited edition
Rip Curl electric guitar and a brand new Rip Curl E3 Bomb winter wetsuit.
Entries
are to be made by email to surf@westcoastsurf.co.uk stating your name, age and
division that you wish to enter. Entries are £5 and you will need to request an
entry form from West Coast. West Coats have emphasised that entries will not be
taken on the weekend itself, it is anticipated that the entries will fill up
very quickly and so if you want to be in with a chance on competing you need to
send your entry now. West Coast will be operating a reserve list so if you do
not make the list for the initial competition you may be informed nearer the
actual weekend by email that you have made it to the heats.
All
communication will be made by email so if you enter make sure you keep checking
your emails for update or any changes to the location due to the weather,
There
will also be a cracking musical line up. The legendary Power Boat Club will be
hosting one of its last nights in the village before it is ripped down. The
Hookes boys (Headland) will be teaming up with the Williams brother (one half
of Snatch) to perform at this one off gig.
You can expect some great music, an
amazing atmosphere and lots of familiar faces at one of the last guilty
pleasure venues of the village. It will
be a brilliant way to round off a season in Abersoch that will not be the same
again as we wave goodbye to the veteran venue of the village that is the PB.
